I wasn't in the mood to watch another upsetting or depressing documentary, but nothing else was on TV and Blackfish was unavoidable, since CNN was heavily promoting and showing its on primetime nearly every weeknight.
Having seen The Cove and already not being a fan of the far too common inhumane treatment of zoo & circus animals, I knew Blackfish was going to get my blood boiling. Needless to say, screw Seaworld, Marineland and every other aquarium that keeps giant marine mammals captive for cheap entertainment.
Blackfish confirms the rumors that these animals are mistreated and live in absolutely insanely unnatural habitats, essentially these Whales are turned into zombies to entertain the masses.
This documentary does focus mostly on SeaWorld and its ex animal trainers -not surprising, these trainers are neither professional marine biologists or experts in animal behavior.
With chilling interviews and disturbing footage, Blackfish is powerful and riveting.
If SeaWorld was ever on your to-do list, I sincerely hope that you rethink that dream after watching Blackfish.
I have never been a fan of keeping animals captive, except when it becomes a necessity for conservation.
Don't get me started on the breeding of Panda Bears... You do realize Panda bears are bred for the sole purpose to entertain people, none are left in the wild and all living Pandas today are circus animals. That's f'd up. 9/10
