Fox's upcoming TV Show 'Gotham' city news

Credit wenn.com

Just last week came the official word that "Sons of Anarchy" and "Terriers" star Donal Logue had been cast as Harvey Bullock in Fox's upcoming Batman-inspired TV series, "Gotham." With production on the pilot still a few weeks away, the details on the series are still a under wraps, but speaking with Nerd Repository, Logue dropped some new info about the series, and talked at length about how he's hoping to turn Bullock into a fully realized character.

"My kids watched the animated series and I remember listening to it over the speaker on road trips up to Oregon, I would hear it. It’s that tricky thing where I’m not that guy, I don’t look visually like the guy even in the cartoon. Then there’s that weird thing where I don’t want to take someone’s choice from the cartoon and match it. I want to create a character, no different from Lee Toric in Sons of Anarchy or King Horik [from History's Vikings] or Hank Dolworth in Terriers. They’re all uniquely different scenarios and I don’t want to feel forced to do an impersonation of something else, which is a difficult thing to keep up over the course of a longer series. So we’ll have those talks."

Logue also teased the setting for the series, which seems to not exactly be set in the present time.

"What I do love about 'Gotham,' that I can say so far, is that it creates this incredible world that, for me, you can step into things that almost feel like the roaring '20s, and then there’s this other really kind of heavy Blade Runner vibe floating around. It has this anachronistic element to it where it feels like it’s either New York in the '70s, or it kind of exists independently of time and space in a way, and you can dip into all of these different genres. So I’m excited by it.....There were a couple of examples of modern technology, but maybe an antiquated version of it, that gave me a little bit of sense that it’s certainly not the '50s and the '60s. No one’s making a joke about how “there’s no way you can press a telephone button and have a piece of paper show up in another machine.” There is an acceptance of a certain technological reality. But its not high tech and it’s not futuristic, by any means.

He also touched on the conflicts that will be at the core of the series, which will likely come from his interactions with Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon.

"There’s kind of an ambiguous line between good and bad. We have to let certain bad guys do certain things, in order for the greater good, for this machine to keep working. And then someone comes in who’s like 'No, I have a much more black and white view, I’m not into this notion of moral relativism. There’s right and there’s wrong.'....And what is law? Is law this platonic form of truth that floats in space that is fixed, or is it something that’s this arbitrary thing where it’s like “the law is me and you, right now, in this car. Whatever we determine, that’s the law.” And that’s the kind of thing that will be a conflict in this show."

"Gotham" has also cast several other notable DC characters including Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Zabryna Guevara as Gordon's boss at the GCPD, Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Gordon's fiancee, Barbara Kean.

Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist," "Rome") wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer on the series. Danny Cannon ("CSI," "Nikita") will direct and executive produce the pilot\

Ben Kingsley in Marvel’s All Hail the King , trailer clip

We are just over one week from the release of the latest Marvel one shot entitled All Hail the King. Marvel has released a new clip from the short courtesy of USA Today.
All Hail the King follows the story of the Trevor Slattery. If you watched Iron Man 3, you will recognize Slattery as the “actor” who fooled Iron Man into believing that he was The Mandarin, the man responsible for all the atrocities being wrought against Iron Man and those he is close to. However, it turns out that the evil was someone else entirely, and that Slattery was nothing more than an actor playing a role.
Speaking of actors, Slattery was portrayed in both Iron Man 3 and All Hail the King by veteran actor Sir Ben Kingsley.
When we catch up with Slattery, he is nice and secure in prison for his involvement in the whole “Mandarin” debacle. He has become quite the celebrity since everything came to a head. I guess, as far as he is concerned, that is a good thing. All he ever wanted was to be recognized for his work.
In the newest clip, some of his fellow inmates are just dying for him to do his impression of The Mandarin. As much as he tries to resist, he knows this is what he loves doing.
Here is a look at the latest clip from the Marvel One Shot All Hail the King.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy trailer....

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy trailer... will apparently be released tomorrow night !

USA Today is reporting that the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night – with an introduction by star Chris Pratt – before being released in theaters on Friday.
The film’s plot will involve the Guardians meeting each other in a space prison and breaking out together. They then visit Knowhere and the Collector, and are chased by Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) who are after an orb in Star-Lord’s possession.
“There’s a whole lot to this movie — it’s not a stage play,” Pratt says. “You couldn’t make Guardians of the Galaxy the play and put it on Broadway. It really wouldn’t work.”
Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1, 2014.

James Cameron has some updates on his upcoming Avatar Sequel(s)

James Cameron recently talked to RTL (via MarketSaw) about the upcoming three sequels to Avatar, the top grossing movie of all time with $2.782 billion at the worldwide box office.
"We're still in the early stages. Right now we're developing the software. I'm writing the scripts. We're designing all the creatures and characters and the settings, and so on. So, I'm not actually directing yet, but I'm doing all the other creative processes that lead up to that," Cameron said.
He added that he thinks "it's going very well. I think it's going to be spectacular. You'll see new worlds, new habitats, new cultures. The primary conflict between the human view kind of dominating nature and the Na'vi view of being integrated into nature is the same, but it manifests itself in very different ways."
As far as the tech behind the upcoming films, they have greatly reduced how long one movie will take to make. "The first film… took almost four years to make. We expect to be able to accelerate the process quite a bit, because we've improved a lot of the software and the computer graphics tools, and we've been working very closely with Weta Digital down here in New Zealand developing a whole new suite of tools to speed up the process."
Cameron also said they are "looking at high frame rate. I'm studying that. I haven't made a final decision yet, whether the entire film will be made at high frame rate or parts of it. You know, we'll be shooting at a native resolution of probably 4K and so then there should be a lot of true 4K theaters by then as well."
So what can we expect story wise? "The thing that's great about 'Avatar,' it's such a rich world, I can explore any theme or any idea that I want. Once you've got the characters that an audience loves, it's great to surprise them and make changes and turns that they don't expect. And you don't have to spend so much time of the movie setting up all that stuff, because the audience will remember from the previous film."

Avatar 2 is scheduled for a December, 2016 release, Avatar 3 for December of 2017, and Avatar 4 in 2018.

Robocop 2014 Review

(published but not yet edited)

I wont delve to much into why remakes draw negative criticism and often terrible reviews.
Say what you want about this remake, the one thing that is undeniable is that it stands as a rare remake that really sticks to the story of its 1987 original.
If you didn't care for the 1987 version, you probably will not enjoy this 2014 adaptation.
Keeping with the same theme of capitalism, social integrity vs. corporate greed and corporate agendas Robocop 2014 wont win any Oscars but it is definitely entertaining.
In both versions Robocop takes place in a near future, crime ridden Detroit city (eerie 1987 prediction of how things turned out for motor city).
Same as the original version, Robocop asks viewers if we are ready to live in a society where we can entrust robots to make lawful decisions. Forget the crime fighting robots and crazy special effects, Robocop is a sci-fi film that asks important real questions, 'what if' with real plausible answers 'let's hope the f not'.

Despite the script being slightly thin, the acting is good, but this is expected of course from Samuel L Jackson and especially Gary Oldman. Michael Keaton is always underrated and plays his character well. Joel Kinnaman fares decently as the lead Alex Murphy/Robocop.
The film does have a huge not so hidden message about corporate America and how far will people go to push an agenda over any moralities... this message is however nearly missed due to the action taking away from what could have been a real interestingly smart remake.
It does turn out mindless, despite having a great story, Robocop 2014 simply remains an action packed empty hearted sci-fi flick.
It is mindless entertainment but could have been so much more.
A big missed opportunity in my opinion.
5/10

Nymphomaniach stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Mia Goth, Udo Kier, Jean-Marc Barr, Caroline Goodall, Kate Ashfield, Saskia Reeves, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Hugo Speer, Felicity Gilbert, Michael Pas, Jesper Christensen, Jens Albinus, Nicolas Bro, Cyron Melville, Shanti Roney, Omar Shargawi, Tania Carlin, Severin von Hoensbroech and Peter Gilbert Cotton.

Scarlett Johansson Has a 'Very Big' Role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Solo Film Teased

News out of Total Film
When Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits the big screen on April 4, it will mark Scarlett Johansson's third big screen appearance as Natasha "Black Widow" Romanoff. That will soon be followed by a fourth, Avengers: Age of Ultron, in 2015. According to Total Film's new interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige (via Comic Book Movie), the much-anticipated sequel will feature a "very big" role for the character. What's more, he teases that a Black Widow solo film may be the next step for the character.
"We learn more about her past," Feige says of the Joss Whedon sequel, "and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that."
Of course, Black Widow is going to first have to make it through the events of The Winter Soldier, which Feige promises is a game-changer for the MCU.
"We wanted to change the dynamic of the cinematic universe with this film," Feige continues. "We wanted Cap and really the entire cinematic universe to be very different at the end of 'Winter Soldier' than it is at the beginning. Therefore, when we meet the Avengers at the top of 'Age of Ultron,' it's a very different landscape than we left them at the end of the first film. Partially that's because we love the rhythm that the comic books have developed. Each of the characters appear in their runs, occasionally they get together for a big event or crossover series, they part again, and then they come back together again."

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.

Jodorowsky's Dune Trailer...The Film That Never Was

I wont lie....I never read Dune, however it is at the top of my to read list.
From Sony Pictures Classics , they have just released, via Yahoo!, the trailer for their upcoming feature-length documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, hitting theaters in a limited release March 21. Check it out in the player below!

Directed by Frank Pavich, Jodorowsky's Dune explores legendary cult film director Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre) and his staggeringly ambitious, yet ultimately doomed, mid-1970s film adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel "Dune." The tale of Jodorowsky and his Dune is a fascinating trip through creativity and imagination, a story about the relentless pursuit of a dream, and the necessity of art. In pre-production for over two years, the film was to star Jodorowsky's own 12-year-old son Brontis alongside Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine and even Salvador Dali, set to a musical score by Pink Floyd and art-design by some of the most provocative talents of the era

John Singleton to direct Tupac Shakur film

Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films have, according to Variety, set John Singleton to helm their upcoming Tupac.
Tupac centers on the life of Tupac Shakur. Rapper, poet, actor and political activist, Tupac shot to fame with "2Pacalypse Now." Tupac's politically charged lyrics, inspired by his parents' activism as Black Panthers in the '60s and early '70s, condemned governmental intrusion in black communities. Tupac's increased participation in the East Coast-West Coast Rap rivalry became well documented and avidly followed by his fans. On September 7, 1996 he was gunned down on a street corner in Las Vegas, where he died 6 days later. His murder was never solved.
Among Singleton's diverse credits are his debut feature, Boyz n the Hood, his 2000 franchise reboot Shaft, the franchise sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious and, most recently, the Taylor Lautner teen spy thriller Abduction. Singleton himself took to Twitter immediately after the news broke with the following post
