The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is hitting theaters December 13th and here we have the brand new official poster featuring new and old characters.

Will Desolation of Smaug be better than An Unexpected Journey, my guess is yes, by the trailer alone the vibe is more sinister and darker and much less juvenile. The first installment lacked depth and substance, something that Lord of The Rings actually had. Let's just hope that Sir Peter Jackson was simply working out some rust when shooting the first Hobbit.
