Marvel's Ant-Man casting news and set pics

If you caught Michael Douglas  on  "The Late Show with David Letterman" have heard him confirm what many rumors had already suggested  that he will be starring in Marvel's upcoming superhero flick "At-Man"

Ant-Man's synopsis:  Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Ant-Man is set for a  July 2015 release

It's official Paul Rudd is Marvel Studios' Ant-Man!

Rumored for the role since earlier this year, Paul Rudd is Marvel Studios' choice to headline Ant-Man! The Wrap reports that the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues star will play Hank Pym in the July 31, 2015 release.

Set to begin production early next year in Georgia, Ant-Man will be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).

Although there's no assurance yet that it remains the case, Wright's original plans for the film called for both Pym and the later Ant-Man of the comics, Scott Lang, to appear in the feature.

"The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both... Henry Pym and Scott Lang," Wright told SuperHeroHype some years ago. "So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60's, in sort of 'Tales to Astonish' mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang's story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him."

The film, which is supposed to launch "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron's May 1, 2015 release.

Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man film, Ant-Man The infamously Forgotten

I read my share of Marvel comics when I grew up, and I can't ever recall Ant-Man ever being part of, or associated with any of my favorite series, not X-Men, not Spiderman, not Ghost Rider, not Daredevil, was he even featured in the Infinity Gauntlet?...but apparently he made some friends over at the Avengers and through the years Ant-Man has had different characters assume the title hero (Really? That many people wanted to be Ant-Man?)

Anything that has come from Marvel in the last few years have been major box office success, despite many being panned by critics.
Ant-Man will probably be another success despite the lack of notoriety of said superhero.
Oh and just to remind you all that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to play the man ant..man...ant-man.

Edgar Wright (The Worlds End) is directing and he has some very nice things to say about the people hiring him and the movie he is set to direct.
Here is Wright in an interview with IGN:

“I’ve known Kevin Feige [Marvel Entertainment's Co-President] for years and in that time I’ve always has this treatment, which is now becoming a movie. So the idea has never really wavered. And I think what me and Joe [Cornish] wrote, and what the people who have read it say, is that it really feels like a great Marvel yarn. And that was sort of the intention, but you will definitely also still see my stamp on it. The nice thing about doing one of these things is that I loved the comics growing up. So if I was making a Marvel movie, I would want it to feel like a Marvel comic.
You’ll see when you see the movie that we’ve definitely written interesting takes on different characters… Of course you need great actors, and I think that’s actually what they’ve done so far in their casting is actually kind of been to cast surprising actors. They haven’t gone for the most obvious people. I think from the first movie onwards. People forget that back in 2007 that Robert Downey Jr. was a gamble for them. Now when he’s the biggest star on the planet nobody remembers that. But it’s a great way to start and they’ve sort of continued with that casting throughout in terms of casting great people, and interesting people, and people you wouldn’t expect.”

Marvels upcoming ANT-MAN casting news

According  to Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige Ant-Man will have it's full cast announcement by the end of the year, here is what Feige had to say:

We are tweaking the drafts [of the script] with Joe Cornish...and we're crewing up and prepping. There should be cast announcements, probably before the end of the year."

Rumors around the web have Paul Rudd signing on for the role of the titled superhero.
If true that would be...interesting, but with Anchorman 2 being released in a few months, it sounds that Rudd is looking at a higher payday and may force the studio to look elsewhere.
