Pablo Escobar - 'Narcos' TV series on Netflix- casting news

News out of wenn.com
Did you know Pablo Escobar owned Hippos and now some are roaming wild in Colombia...
ANYWAYS read the Netflix announcement below

Brazil’s top film star Wagner Moura will bring back to life the charismatic trafficker and politician Pablo Escobar in a Netflix Original Series "Narcos," from acclaimed director Jose Padilha and Gaumont International Television.
An all-new take on the amazing story of the Medellin Cartel, once the world’s most ambitious and violent trafficking organization, "Narcos" reunites the creators of the ultimate Brazilian cop action and political film, Elite Squad: Moura (Elysium) and Padilha (RoboCop).

“Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their 'Elite Squad' movies,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before.”

“Our idea is to tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe – and how it all started here in Medellin,” said Padilha, now preparing Narcos in Colombia.

“We are so thrilled to be working with Jose and Eric on this gripping and timeless story,” said Katie O’Connell, Chief Executive Officer, Gaumont International Television. “Netflix is the perfect partner to launch this series and we are happy to be working once again with the amazing team there.”

Executive produced by Padilha, Eric Newman (Children of Men), the team of Doug Miro and Carlos Bernard (Sorcerer’s Apprentice), and Chris Brancato ("Hannibal"), the ten episode initial season of "Narcos" will soon begin filming in Colombia with the series arriving in all Netflix territories in early 2015

FOX's upcoming Batman TV Series 'Gotham' on casting news- The Riddler

FOX's upcoming Batman-inspired series "Gotham" has found its Riddler! EW reports that Cory Michael Smith (who stars opposite Kristen Stewart in the upcoming drama Camp X-Ray) is set to play Edward Nygma with the character planned to debut in the pilot episode.

"Gotham" is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), "Gotham" follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

New 'The Fantastic Four' film news- Dr Doom

I was not a fan of the original Marvel comic and loathed the latest film efforts of The Fantastic Four, however the latest version is looking promising
Here's some Fantastic Four film news for anyone interested
The actor previously named as one of the top choices for the role, Variety reports that Dawn of The Planet of The Apes star Toby Kebbell has taken the role of Dr. Victor von Doom in director Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four

Kebbell will go up against Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Miles Teller as Marvel's First Family with production expected to begin in Baton Rouge this month.

The film is set for a summer 2014 release

Review on Jason Bateman's "Bad Words"

Here is my short and unedited review of Jason Bateman's directing and acting effort "Bad Words"

Vulgar profanity and witty jokes simply act as fillers for this average comedy.
Starring Jason Bateman, 'Bad Words' tells the story of a 40 year high school dropout who, by finding a loophole in spelling bee contests, competes against high schoolers as a sort of revenge for his missed childhood.
The jokes are funny but few and far between, and the entire movie relies a little to heavily on Bateman.

Although the humor of 'Bad Words' is reminiscent of a lighter version of 'Bad Santa'...and along the lines of what I would consider funny, this film did not keep me entertained. Jokes aside, the interaction between characters is weak and any non-Bateman related scene were lame.
I love me some Jason Bateman, and you can clearly see his humor stamped throughout the film, but the story is thin and unfortunately- despite positive reviews, I can only recommend this movie as a weekend comedy filler.
